Contemporary producers renovate Miyako Koda’s sublime, Haruomi Hosono-produced Jupiter (1998) album nearly 20 years since original release.
Discosession’s Chee Shimizu contributes two delicate mixes, feathering Io into a dusky scene of cicadas and chirruping ‘tronics, and setting the plaintive poetry of A Sea Of Love adrift in placid, milky waters as Seahorse.
Jordan GCZ chimes in with a very zen re-edit of Ndembu’s gamelan-like drums and sighing vocal cadence, sounding out close to Don’t DJ, while the original version of Butter still sounds sweetly ahead of its time, and the original album’s lounging centrepiece, Sleep In Peace is presented in a necessarily stripped down version and spaciousIn The Shadow remix.
