The beautiful melodies that Stevie Wonder has been known for are still there, his voice gently jumps from one note to another and production is really strong, even with all those synths licks that pop into your ears in every song. “Part-Time Lover” was sole #1 hit off the album and deservedly so. It’s pure Pop/Soul perfection that melts together old Motown beat (ala The Supremes), catchy melody, strong lyrics and mid 80’s synths arrangement. It was Stevie’s last #1 song and by far it’s been one of the best in his career. “I Love You Too Much” is great funky Pop song, that should have been released as single. Out of the ballads “Whereabouts” and “Overjoyed” are the ones to treasure. Overall, it’s truly wonderful project that sadly goes unnoticed even now.
