Peter Rocket

Following a trio of 12″ singles from label founder Mr Assister, Beam welcomes psychedelic electronica expert Peter Rocket to the label for the very first time. He’s previously recorded under a couple of other aliases, popping up on World Unknown and Ritual Poison with trippy, intoxicated concoctions. The three tracks here are similarly inclined, especially A-side ‘Essai’, where hallucinatory synthesizer lines, bad-trip chords and moody aural textures cluster around a dense, expertly programmed, off-kilter beat. ‘Yvene’ sees him wrap gently undulating acid lines around a sparse, spaced-out ambient techno rhythm, while ‘Hive Six’ is dubby, positive and -pleasingly melodious.
