Hazel Scott

Not to be confused with the Hazel Scott from USA, this Hazel Scott hailed from South Africa and recorded a couple of limited singles in the early 70s. Her self-titled four-track came out in 1973 on a Portugese label called Estudio, and it was pretty damned hard to come by. With notes of funk and a general swooning romanticism at its heart thanks to the arrangement from Izio Gross, this is a diggers delight finally brought back into the realms of accessibility thanks to a reissue via Groovie which keeps the original artwork intact.
