Soul Supreme
Soul Supreme
Dutch digger, DJ and beat-maker Naom Offir first tickled our fancy when he was recording as Love’s High on Star Creature back in 2018. Since then, he’s released a couple of decent – if fairly low-key – seven-inch singles as Soul Supreme, fusing his retro-futurist boogie and synth-funk sounds with dusty, homemade hip-hop beats, deeper instrumentation and nods towards jazz-funk. It’s that blueprint that he works from on this self-titled debut album, throwing in additional tracks inspired by slow house, G-funk and wonky instrumental hip-hop to keep things varied. The result is an impressively vibrant, listenable and far-sighted album that looks set to be one of the breakthrough records
