Second time around for the tenth instalment in Blend It Records’ Black Aroma series of edits EPs, which has become something of a collector’s item since it first landed in stores back in 2017. The repress is certainly welcome, because you’ll struggle to find a more consistently strong collection of dancefloor reworks. Red Greg kicks things off with ‘Ride On’, a fine re-arrangement of a killer old Michael Henderson disco jam, before Specter brilliantly rewires a Hammond-rich Brazilian dancefloor jazz-funk number (‘Chedda’) and successfully fiddles with a low-slung South American disco-rap shuffler (‘Double Dribble’). Horn-heavy jazz-funk is the order of the day on LTJ’s ‘Sotcha’, while ‘You Got Me Dreamin’ is a tactile, slow-motion gospel-boogie number.
