Natural Frequencies is an all new imprint from Handy Records that welcomes Boulderhead for a fine debut. The artist hits a superb sweet spot here between bounce and drive in the worlds where techno, electro and prog all meet. ‘My Other Brain Is Artificial’ is a twitchy cut wired with sinewy electronics over rubbery drums. Luca Lozano remix with more wonk and ‘Adaptive Biotech’ then gets trippy with some glowing harmonics over the lithe tech drums and day-lo synth leads. The flips side offers serene and cosmic colour with ‘Cyborg Frogs’ and then the broke beats come to the fore on the speedy, frisky ‘Humanlike’.
