Gaussian Curve
Winter Sun / Fever Dream
Gigi Masin, Jonny Nash and Marco Sterk return to their Gaussian Curve project for the first time since 2016, carving two nostalgic, Rhodes-led melters that could have easily been snipped from one of Tangerine Dream’s prized ’80s soundtracks.
Written back in 2016 when Masin, Nash and Sterk were working on their second album ‘The Distance’, ‘Winter Sun’ and ‘Fever Dream’ were dug up again and reworked when they began performing live once more in 2022. The former is an diaphanous, dreamworld theme, underpinned by unmistakable CR-78 loops and lifted by Nash’s Manuel Göttsching-inspired guitar licks. But the biggie here is ‘Fever Dream’, a slowed-down ‘Love On A Real Train’-alike that features woozy 303 squelches, soft rock sax, and Masin on vocals, sounding like ’80s Phil Collins.
