Phil Manzanera

Manzanera, AKA Roxy Music's spiritual drive and beefy back bone, has undergone a series of remixes on London's fashion/sound/leisure hub LNCC. And it all starts here: a remix of the iconic 801 track "Now Listen". Paying respect to the original, Velvet Season and co have extended the groove, added a Nordic shimmer to the oceanic guitar twangs and pushed the cosmic factor up to a hundred. Kenji and Tomoki's take on "Criollo", meanwhile, gives Manzanera's primitive guitar a jolly good polish over twinkling arpeggios and a suitably jaunty 4/4. An ace start to a promising series.
