Negotiating the Coil discography as a newcomer is no easy task, and one might easily be misled by presuppositions concerning the ancestry of the Coil project, what with Peter Christopherson’s involvement with Psychic TV and the legendary Throbbing Gristle – the point being that whether that kind of industrial counter-cultural stuff appeals or not should be irrelevant to your evaluation of this three part soundtrack symphony of spooky bag-pipes. This is one of those albums with enduring appeal that I regularly replay, year on year. A real favourite of industrial ambient electronica.
