GRATIEN MIDONET – A COSMIC POET FROM MARTINIQUE 1979-1989 | Time Capsule

(Silvio Yana)

“Fusion” would be a good term to define this artist from Martinique. Midonet is inspired by multiple influences and ultimately aims on spreading conscious messages through an artistic vision of the world rather than playing a specific genre of music.

« Ne pas s’identifier à la Matrice artificielle extérieure, mais rester en direction, en conscience, des lois universelles de la Nature »

This record is also special to me because it’s a collaboration between two friends. Selection and the biography is done by Cedric Woo from « Beauty and The Beat » on the incredible label of Kay Suzuki « Time Capsule » . Since I met them in London few years ago, they played a huge role in influencing of my vision and love for music. This record is a beautiful piece to have and it sounds fabulous on Klipschorns!

RONALD LANGESTRAAT | South of North

(Sandro Ceyte)

Searching Magnificent album I discovered at Peekaboo two years ago thanks to the owner. Dutch pianist with a shy and charming voice losing himself in soul fusion by expressing his mental and artistic freedom. A pleasure to listen to on a dancefloor, like at home.

MUSICA ESPORADICA – MUSICA ESPORADICA | Music from Memory

(Silvio Yana)

Between dream and reality, this record is an atmospheric beauty reissued on « Muisc for Memory ». I discovered it realising the multi-percussionist Glen Vélez (who has a beautiful compilation called « Four seasons » on « Emotioanl Rescue ») was part of this spanish band.

All tracks are great but listen to especially « I forgot the shirts » with those afro-percussion and female voices…

THE ROBIN JONES SEVEN – EL MAJA | Jazz Room

(Sandro Ceyte)

El Maja Happy with this discovery “Encore” from the master of percussion from the London Latin jazz scene, Robin Jones. Feels like travelling first class on psychedelic rhythms in pure Afro Cuban tradition.

VARIOUS – WORLD PSYCHEDELIC CLASSICS 3 | Luaka Bop

(Silvio Yana)

West african music, psychedelism, anti-imperialist ideology, love… What else ? The mix of elements who creates strong and beautiful messages through music. This is a killer compilation from the label «Luaka Bop records » and with amazing tracks like « Better change your mind » from William Onyeabor who has provocative lyrics and an amazing groove.

CLOUD ONE – DUST TO DUST | Queen Constance

(Sandro Ceyte)

Fantastic re-release from legendary label of New York by Patrick Adams and Peter Brown. Sampled by Madlib on his classics tapes “Beat Konducta” here I am on a cloud with each listening “The loop is buckled”.

GET A ROOM! – INSANE DANCES 003 (ICUBE REMIXES) | Insane Dances

(Silvio Yana)

I discovered the Parisian duo « Get a Room » on the same label « Insane Dance » with the magic track « Ecuador ». I’m super happy to see a second record from them coming. « Cochon toi-même » is warm and cold at the same time, acid, down-tempo, dubby, with killer breaks… Can’t wait to test it on a house-party !

GARRETT – PRIVATE LIFE III | Music from Memory

(Sandro Ceyte)

Huge crush for this third project of the Private Life series by Garrett aka Dam-Funk. Faudès West Coast is the future !!!

LOVE JUNKIE – LOVE JUNKIE | Not on Label

(Silvio Yana)

Thanks for the discovering Rodrigood ! Good music and perfect lyrics…

AZUMAH – LONG TIME AGO | Nyami Nyami

(Sandro Ceyte)

Banger reissue again on the label Nyami Nyami records. This record is an emotional musical journey that mixes tradition, influence and eclecticism. Special mention for the song Woza Moya.

FLOATING POINTS, PHAROAH SANDERS & THE LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA – PROMISES | LUAKA BOP

(Sandro & Silvio)

There is music who doesn’t need to be described or analysed, but just felt… This entire LP is one of them!

JOSÉ CARLOS SCHWARZ & LE COBIANA DJAZZ | HOT MULE

(Silvio)

Jose Carlos Schwarz reappears to the light thanks to the amazing work of my friend Louis and his beautiful label, Hote Mule Records. We learn about Schwarz life, about his messages to revive traditional music from Guinea-Bissau to fight for independence… It’s an amazing compilation… <3
All tracks are beautiful, but “Na Kolonia” touches me in particular.
