The best of two self-titled albums by this hip LA vocal quartet — recorded for Blue Note with arrangements by Jerry Peters, and jazzy soul style that reminds us a bit of Creative Source on their third or forth LPs. The group were heavily in demand as backup singers on studio sessions — so they’ve really got their chops down here — and the approach of the album really sets them in territory that makes it difficult for them to take any wrong moves.
